About Ask 10 Persons

Gist

The aim of the activity of Ask 10 Persons ("A10" hereafter) is to change teens' view about others with culturally different backgrounds to a much friendlier one by enriching the images they have toward foreign countries from a familiar perspective.

Aims

The aim of the activity of Ask 10 Persons:

  • to create the opportunity of answering the simple doubt or question for the culture of the foreign country which the children of teens hold
  • to create the opportunity of ascertaining that it connotes heavily layer and the various sides in the word, culture, such as culture which each area possesses, the culture which each individual holds, and the culture whose community is high worldwide in the word
  • to create the opportunity of sharing the feeling by being able to know the existence of the persons who have the same interest of her/him in the world
  • to create the opportunity of exchanging mutual information of personal-based regional culture that mass media cannot afford to convey
  • to create the database with which children in the world try to be able to search similar questions and doubts easily

The Forum In Agusut 2006

Last night we had a great meeting with the SAT students. We talked about the differences between Japanese and American high schools. A Japanese lady named Hitomi was present and she helped with English to Japanese translation. A local journalist, Mr. Yoshimoto, attended and took notes voraciously. The students were very cheerful and asked me lots of interesting questions. Hitomi talked about her experiences in Australia and showed us lots of photographs. I hope we have many more chances to do this again.

Rafal from Poland visited us in summer 2007

Rafal with students

One of our core members, Rafal, visited us in summer 2007. He learned calligraphy from one of the students called Aya. He went to Kamishima with students and ate takomeshi. He also visited Nara, Osaka, Kyoto, and so on during his staying in Japan. He went to watch hanabi, firework, with teru and Toyoshi's family. He really enjoyed hanabi!

He is learning Japanese in Poland and he wishes to visit Japan again with Michal.

Garnold from Poland visited us in summer 2009

Garnold with Kei on the street in Nara

Another core member, Garnold, visited us in summer 2009. His first arrival was Tokyo. He met Asakawa-san there. Asakawa-san took him to several nice places. He enjoyed looking around Tokyo with him. He enjoyed Japanese dishes there in Tokyo too.

Garnold took Shinkansen to Nagoya from Tokyo and visited Matsusaka. He met nice friends there during his stay for some weeks. On the festival day he danced with them. He danced so well! ;) And his Japanese helped him to make many Japanese friends.

Garnold in Nara

Garnold and I visited Nara. Kei came there from Shiga pref. and joined us. Garnold found Kakigori was so nice. It became one of his favorite Japanese foods.;) After looking around Nara in a day, Garnold and I had a big problem. The battery of my car was dead! Kei had already gone for Shiga. So Garnold pushed my car on the main street of Nara. Fortunately the car worked after our serveral trials. :D

You can see some of his pictures at Krystian's visiting Japan and Suzuodori in 2009 and kibonosono's video chat 12 on the photo gallery.
