Teaching English To Japanese Students With Cell Phone

Postby teru » Sun Feb 22, 2009 9:33 am

Niwa.chan recently began to teach English to some Japanese students with cell phone.
Those lucky students are Tomoyuki, Hanako, Miho, Asuka, and Rio. Hanako will start learning English later in March.
All of them are so happy to learn English from niwa.chan. :D

Last night Tomoyuki chatted with niwa.chan with PC here. He was so excited and nervous because the chat session with a foreigner in English was the first time for him.

After having finished the chat session, I asked Tomoyuki to describe his impression of the session with niwa.chan. He wrote his impression a full of paper.

Well, some other students chatted with Rafal and Garnold a few years ago. Those students finished learning here. Then I got new students but they were not interested in communicating with foreigners at all.

Now almost all of them here are interested in communicating with foreigners. It took about a year to change them.
I hope those students will acquire general communication skills with learning English.

Oh, I forgot to mention about Asuka and Rio.
Both of them are Miho's friends in her school. And Asuka was on the last voice chat session on March 8th.

Few days ago, I had nice conversations via cell phones with Miho, Asuka, Rio and Tomoyuki..

We had these conversations to practice English, and I had a Great Great Great Fun!! Everyone, has been really nice, and to my surprise everyone is doing very well.

I hope Tomoyuki can overcome the anxiety of speaking English.. But the girls are doing fantastic!

This method is very new to me, and I hope by getting one step closer to them, and being able to talk with them in almost daily basis can help them to familiarized them to English..

With that good intention of mine, I hope anytime near future these lovely and hard working teens will be able to use English more often.

I wish to continue on this project for sometime.. and hopefully it will grow..
Regards,

Niwa

Yes, please. And send me your video to encourage students to draw pictures by email. Then students will realize that you and Pola in Chile made the drawing contest better than just reading your post. :)

Niwa.chan is keeping on teaching English to Asuka, Rio, Miho, and Tomoyuki via cell phone.
She writes sentences in English and Romaji with a nice picture to those students.
So I made a photo gallery with those pictures.

Niwa.chan keeps encouraging Japanese high school students to use English. I've heard that Asuka, Miho and Rio enjoy corresponding with niwa.chan via the cell phone.
I also enjoy her pictures which were sent by email and I put them on the gallery. :)
I'm continuing developing a new website with customizing the functions such as a social network system and profile kit.
I also started to build another website called aristoy-mobi. (Don't ask me how many websites I make!! ;) ) Aristoy-mobi is for the mobile phone. And it possesses a gateway module for responding to posts via email. It links outgoing notifications emails with incoming email responses using a combination of mail parameters and digital signatures. Of course, its style is rather simple without much css and javascript, though it's not wap.
After having accomplished the aristoy-movi, some more Japanese high school students will join us. :)

English test for students!

Hello everyone!

I have some news for this section!

Because I am going to do my IELTS test (English test) for immigration purposes, I am inviting all of you who are interested in studying English more with me.

How this works:

1. Send me your emails/mobile emails (for students in Japan).
note: use emails that you check regularly
2. Every week, I will send out a set of Reading/Writing/General Grammar questions (ranging from 5-20, but no more than 20 questions per set.)
3. For every answer you submitted, I will personally send feedback (if there are mistakes) and will ask you to make some corrections!
4. For those who got all answer correct will get another set of questions!
5. Difficulties of the questions will be from Easy-Intermediate Level

for those who think they are beginners, I encourage you to join. I will help you with vocabularies and simple grammar.

send me a reply or email, if you are interested and I hope all of us can improve our English

OPTIONAL: If any of you have completed Reading and Writing practices, I would be more than happy to help you do the Speaking practices and maybe Listening.
However, attempting Reading and Writing practices are enough as a kick start for your English study for the time being.
Regards,

Niwa

Thank you, niwa.chan.
My students are so happy to learn English with cell phone.
They are also happy to watch your nice pictures.
The communication with you in English helps students to obtain and maintain their motivation for learning English! :D

I added some of your pictures in the photo gallery.
